FlexMail is the centerpiece of the FlexMessaging Solution, which, based on postfix, is a highly reliable, versatile, expandable, and secure high-performance mail delivery engine.

Features

LDAP can be employed in user data, allowing for implementation on large-scale systems. Supports single, unified quota management system through the integration of FlexPOP and FlexIMAP. Servers are dispersed for each function, allowing for flexible clustering. Server redundancy is created through load balancing, allowing uninterrupted operations even when a localized MTA fault (i.e., a single server goes down) occurs. Allows for the ability to add additional servers (in response to an increase in system users or system loads) without interruption of services. Makes possible total client support for the VA Core OS and VA Balance, a load balancing program.

Functions Basic Mail delivery/SMTP routing Automatic mail forwarding - Allows for mail to be forwarded and, simultaneously, deposited in the original mailbox. - Settings can be changed through the User Support System. Mailbox storage limits - Limits can be set for each individual user. - Warning message can be sent before storage limits exceeded. * Warning mail threshold (%) can be set. * The transmission trigger for warning mail can be defined in up to two stages. - Settings can be changed through the User Support System. Automatic deletion of expired mail - Automatic deletion of expired mail. (For all accounts) - Period of expiration can be set on a daily level. Limits for size of mail (sending, receiving) - Size limits can be set for headers, text body, attached files. - An "unlimited" setting is also possible. - Maximum mail size can be set in bytes. Automated mail response - Optional subject titles can be defined for automated responses. - Up to two different kinds of automated responses can be sent. - Settings can be changed through the User Support System. Mail acceptance and rejection settings - Mail that matches certain correct strings can be accepted or rejected. - Mail can be accepted or rejected based on size. - Settings can be changed from the User Support System. Security POP before SMTP (protects from unauthorized mail relaying) SMTP-AUTH authentication - Supports LOGIN, PLAIN, CRAM-MD5. * Users must use an MUA that supports SMTP-AUTH. Takes care of unauthorized mail relaying - Connection permission can be limited to pre-authorized networks. - RCPT can be used to check for unauthorized relays. Protection from Spoofing - Mail with a "forged From" can be rejected. Counters malicious attacks - Maximum number of SMTP sessions can be defined. - Limits can be placed on bulk mailings. * 1 SMTP Number of send addresses on current connection. (numbers of rcpt to) - A delayed response can be set for when an SMTP-AUTH authentication error occurs. - Send addresses can be limited. * Mail will be rejected when rcpt to mail address is on rejection list. - SMTP session timeout * The time limit for waiting for commands from a remote SMTP client can be set. - Countermeasures for information leaks * Received: The originating connection MTA ip address can be hidden/not shown in the header. * private ips can all be hidden or netmask can be used. Mail loop countermeasures - Upper limits on the frequency of the appearance of a given "Received" message header can be defined. Takes care of spam (integrated with FlexGuard) Mail response time delay countermeasures - In the case of a failed delivery or when a response is delayed, mail can be placed in outgoing mailbox. Services Multi-address mail transmissions Transmission of general/system-wide messages (welcome mail, etc.) - General messages can be pre-entered and automatically sent to a new account upon creation. - General messages can be changed via the User Support System. Maintenance Operations Output log SPAM counter-measure functions - Queues can be cleaned up without interrupting services. - Queues can be temporarily taken down and restarted at a later time. Server monitoring with SNMP Settings can be changed from the User Support System
